At Winston-Salem Dental Specialists, we offer implant-supported dentures for patients who are missing several teeth or had to have teeth removed. Implant dentures are used to help prevent bone loss in the jaw and restore the functionality and appearance of the missing teeth. We recommend implant-supported dentures to all of our patients who are candidates because of their superiority to traditional dentures.
Why Choose Winston-Salem Dental Specialists
Comprehensive In-House Process
We can perform the entire implant-supported denture procedure, from diagnosis to securing the dentures, right in our office. We expedite the process so you can get back to normal faster.
01
Advanced Technology
Utilizing advanced technology, we use a CT scanner to gain a full understanding of the patient’s mouth and bone structure so we can determine the best placement for their implants.
02
Precise Implant Placement
For the procedure, our team will create a surgical guide so that we can ensure the actual placement of each implant in the patient’s jaw is exactly where it needs to be.
If a patient lacks enough bone to support the denture implants, we can perform bone grafts and sinus lifts in our office so they can still receive the implant-supported dentures.
03
Types of Implant-Supported Dentures We Offer
Implant-Supported Removable Dentures
Implant-supported dentures are an excellent choice for patients in need of dentures to replace missing teeth. Unlike traditional dentures, there is no need for messy gels or adhesives to keep the dentures in place. Instead, implant dentures are surgically placed in the jaw and feature a snap mechanism that allows patients to easily snap the dentures in place or unsnap to remove them. This makes smiling, laughing, speaking, and eating easier and more carefree as patients don’t have to worry about the dentures slipping or falling out like with traditional dentures.
Permanent Implant Dentures
Permanent, or fixed, full-mouth dental implants are another great choice for patients needing dentures. Permanent implant dentures differ from implant-supported dentures in that they cannot be removed. Because they cannot be removed, there is never a need for patients to worry about their dentures shifting, falling out, or getting lost. Another great benefit of permanent dentures is that they look and feel like natural teeth. At Winston-Salem, we use All-on-4 from Nobel Biocare for our permanent denture placement procedures. When compared to removable implant dentures, permanent dentures can be more hygienic since they are never removed and exposed to bacteria outside of the mouth.
Comparing Denture Options
Removable Implant-Supported Dentures
- No messy adhesives
- Snap right into place
- Do not move, slip, or fall out
- Less bulky than traditional dentures
- Retains facial appearance
Permanent Implant Dentures
- More hygienic than traditional or removable implant dentures
- Appear and function as natural teeth
- Restore complete mouth functionality
- No fears of them slipping, falling out, or getting lost
- Retains facial appearance
Denture implants are an investment that will pay off greatly in the long run. Without full-mouth dental implants, patients can end up paying far more than the initial cost of the implant dentures by paying for countless procedures and treatments that could have been prevented by receiving the implant dentures when needed.
